The Madtown Throwdown, held in Madera by team 1323, is this Friday and Saturday, November 9th and 10th. We competed at the Throwdown for the first time last year, and had a great time. We will be fielding two robots, like last year. The two robots are almost identical, and one will be driven by the drive team we had at CalGames, while the other robot will be driven by new members, so as to train up people for the build season. The robots will be numbered 971 (our normal number), and 5971.
If you want to watch, but can’t make it, there will be a webcast available here.
The schedule for the event is available on the team 1323 website; qualifying matches are from 8:00 to 12:00 on Saturday, and Elimination matches are from 2:00 - 5:30 (on Saturday). On Friday, there will be practice matches and mentor matches (where mentors drive the robots), and although it is unclear whether these will be available on the webcast, they probably will be.
We plan to have a potluck on Friday, November 16th, starting at 6:15 PM (doors open at 5:45 PM).
FLL (FIRST LEGO League), a robotics competition for middle schoolers where they build small robots out of LEGOs to perform certain tasks, has its season in the fall, and there will be a tournament at Blach Middle School on Sunday, November 18th.
